Beverly Hills Doctors Explain Impact of Weight Loss Surgery on Young Men's Testosterone Levels

A study was conducted by bariatric specialists from the University of Buffalo and Chicago Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital.

This new study, published in the European Journal of Endocrinology, followed a series of extremely obese young men over five years, more than 70 percent of whom had below-normal free testosterone levels.

The Examination of %67 of the Participants Continued For 3 Years

In the two years following bariatric surgery, only 20 percent of young men still had below normal levels of essential sex hormone.

The examination of 67 percent of the participants continued for three years.

The Southern California health group explained that the study is another indication of the many benefits of weight loss surgery for severely obese people of all ages and genders.

Various Sexual Problems, Including Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

The medical group adds that hormone levels are just one of many important factors that contribute to not only adolescent but adult sexual health as well.

There is no doubt that extreme obesity can cause sexual dysfunction in many ways.

Common comorbidities such as diabetes and high blood pressure are both known to be associated with various sexual problems, including erectile dysfunction (ED).

The medical group cites a 2019 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) that found that nearly %50 of both male and female participants had a marked improvement in their overall sexual health and function five years after they lost weight.

Hormones That Make Weight Loss Almost Impossible

Beverly Hills doctors said procedures such as sleeve gastrectomy have proven to reverse numerous serious health and quality of life problems associated with vaccination for many patients.

Adding that the public often misunderstands the nature of obesity and weight loss surgery, the medical group also emphasized that obese people produce hormones that make weight loss almost impossible in the long run.
