Responsible for skin spots, melanin is a natural skin pigment. Hair, skin, and eye color in humans and animals depend on the type and amount of melanin they have. Special skin cells called melanocytes make melanin. Everyone has the same number of melanocytes, but some people produce more melanin than others. The amount of melanin your body produces depends on your genes. The majority of skin spots are the result of sun damage or hormonal fluctuations, and are often seen on the face, hands or parts of the body that are most exposed to UVA / UVB radiation. When you are exposed to the sun, your body produces more melanin and if your genetic background is suitable, melanin can trigger the formation of spots on the skin.
Spot treatment on the skin can be applied to anyone who has blemishes on their skin. However, in order to understand whether you are a suitable candidate for spot treatments, your medical history and past medical aesthetic and surgical treatments should be carefully reviewed and your skin type should be considered in skin spot treatment.
While spot treatments work extremely well on many different skin types, they may not be suitable for some. Blemish treatments cannot completely remove deep spots, but can suppress them. For this reason, first and foremost, realistic expectations should be had. In those with a darker skin tone, some ablative and even non-ablative lasers can cause hyperpigmentation or even pigment deficiency. Those who have skin diseases such as an active skin disease, infection, sunburn, active herpes, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, dermatitis cannot benefit from most spot treatment options. The treatments are also not suitable for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, using prescription skin care products.
Spot treatment methods repair or suppress pigmentation caused by sun, genetics, acne and damage from the environment. Non-ablative lasers and fractional lasers, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, light and energy therapies, skin peeling, chemical peeling, skin renewal applications and cosmelan-dermamelan kit applications can be used to treat sun damage, age spots and acne scars. These can also restore the tone and texture of the skin and allow you to achieve a clearer skin.
  • Laser Skin Peeling

Ablative lasers are mostly used in laser resurfacing. Aiming to peel the epidermis, the thin outer layer of the skin, the ablative laser stimulates the underlying skin in the dermis and triggers new collagen synthesis. The most common types of ablative laser treatment are carbon dioxide (CO2) laser and erbium laser treatments. The epidermis layer is renewed, the skin tissue grows again, a tighter and smoother new skin is formed. Ablative lasers are more suitable for light-skinned patients than dark-skinned patients. Laser resurfacing devices can be adjusted according to the depth of the stain and are recommended for use in autumn, winter and spring. CO2 laser resurfacing may take two weeks or more for the resurfacing process to heal. Redness may occur after application.
  • Cosmelan-Dermamelan System

Cosmelan-dermamelan system is a professional lightening treatment kit designed to eliminate or reduce dark spots of melanic origin on the skin, while equalizing the skin tone and increasing the skin brightness. The first phase of cosmelan-dermamelan treatment, which is known as the world's most widely used depigmentation, sunspots, post-acne scar treatment, starts in the doctor's clinic. The doctor applies the 1st mask to the skin area to be treated. Then, by adjusting the time according to the skin type and sensitivity, the patient is informed about removing the cosmelan mask at home after 8 to 12 hours.
The home follow-up phase starts with the application of Cosmelan 2, hydra-vital factor K cream and moisturizing sunscreen SPF50, which are included in the kit for use after 48 hours. This follow-up phase is carried out for 6 months to achieve optimum results and prevent blemishes from reappearing.

Cosmelan does not contain any aggressive chemicals or bleaching agents. Its content is fortified with mineral-derived titanium dioxide to support broad-spectrum protection against ultraviolet radiation. Cosmelan results, applied with clinical and home action planning, are fast and effective. Its results have an average of 1 year of protection.

  • BBL- BroadBand Light

BBL technology is a device that uses intense pulsed light power to provide effective results in light rejuvenation and spot treatment. It can treat various skin spots caused by sun exposure. In BBL application, the skin is cleaned first, eye protection is attached and gel is applied to the treatment area. Light energy is sent to the skin with the head of the BBL device suitable for the skin spots. Light penetrates your skin, causing controlled damage to pigmented tissue and blood vessels. Your body works to repair the damage, which helps reduce the appearance of discoloration. BBL therapy is not a laser treatment. While laser treatments have a single wavelength, BBL uses a wide spectrum of light that can filter several different ways to treat different conditions. It also treats a larger skin area than laser. BBL treatment takes about half an hour. After the procedure, you can return to your social life immediately.

  • Chemical peels

Chemical peels, also known as chemical peels, are used to improve the appearance of the skin and remove skin blemishes. After the application, a solution that causes exfoliation and peeling of the skin is applied. There are many types of chemical peels that can reach from superficial to deep. The doctor chooses according to the depth of the stain. The deeper the peel, the more effective the results will be, but these also mean longer recovery time and side effects. Chemical peels have 3 different application types, often with superficial, medium and deep contents.
Superficial peeling is a procedure that can be done at noon, only a mild acid such as alpha hydroxy acid is used to penetrate the outer layer of the skin. This light chemical peel provides a smoother look for people with slightly discolored skin. It removes superficial skin spots.
Medium chemical peels penetrate deeper into the middle layer of the skin. A stronger acid is used, such as glycolic or trichloroacetic acid. These can improve age spots, regulate fine lines, wrinkles, freckles and skin tone.
In deep chemical peels, trichloroacetic acid or phenol is used to penetrate deep into the middle layer of the skin and remove damaged skin cells. This deep peeling treatment removes medium lines, freckles, age spots and scars. It improves the appearance of the treated skin very well but can only be performed once.

  • Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is performed with a device to remove the epidermis, which is the upper layer of the skin, and to support the formation of a new skin. While the device hits tiny crystals on your skin, the vacuum connected to the device vacuum and remove the exfoliated cells from the skin. Microdermabrasion, which is frequently used in superficial skin spots, is a procedure that takes about half an hour. After the vibrating microdermabrasion application, which creates a massage-like feeling, moisturizer is applied and you can switch to social life immediately. A slight rash is likely to occur. Microdermabrasion care plan is often applied twice a month at first and then once a month.

  • Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning , also known as dermabrasion , is the application of shaving the upper layer of the skin in a controlled manner. In dermaplaning application, a sharp medical knife called dermatome is used to remove skin surface irregularities and skin spots. Dermaplaning, which is sometimes used to remove pre-cancerous skin scars called keratosis, is also an application for the treatment of acne scars. This application, which can be applied to small areas of the skin or to the whole face, can be used alone or combined with other treatments such as chemical peels. After the procedure, ointment is applied to the skin. Your skin may become red and swollen, depending on its sensitivity. A slight tingling, burning and pain may be felt, it will go away within a few days.
Skin spots are caused by irregular pigmentation and the biggest factor is sun rays. To prevent this, sun protection cream recommended by your doctor according to your skin type should be used immediately after skin spot treatments. 4-season sun protection and protection of the face area from sunlight will help for a blemish-free, younger and smoother skin.
Although skin spot treatments are non-surgical applications, they are medical procedures and carry some risks. Sometimes complications can occur depending on the skin type, the medical condition of the person applied, allergies, and the drugs used for treatment. Skin spot treatments should be done in a hospital, doctor's office or clinic under hygienic conditions. Possible risks include burns, infection, pigmentation irregularities, delayed healing time (especially for patients using Accutane), skin surface irregularities, textural changes, increased sensitivity to sunburn or allergic reactions.
