What is Post Bariatric Surgery?

After bariatric surgery applications, also known as bariatric surgery, the person begins to lose weight rapidly. After these weight losses, which means the rapid dissolution of the fat tissue in the body, serious skin sagging and formal deformities occur almost all over the body.

Post Bariatric Surgery is the general name given to a series of surgeries performed by Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, where excess skin is removed and body form is reshaped.
After bariatric surgery, severe sagging occurs mostly in the abdominal circumference, face, buttocks, inside of the legs and under the arm, and especially in the breasts in women.

Everything You Need To Know About Post Bariatric Surgery

Post Bariatric Surgery price varies according to the scope of the surgery. Within the scope of Post Bariatric Surgery, combinations of face lift, breast lifting and lifting, arm lift, tummy tuck, waist and back lift, butt lift and leg lift are determined.
Therefore, Post Bariatric Surgery price varies between 20,000 TL and 100,000 TL on average. As well as the scope of the surgery, factors such as the province, doctor, and hospital where the surgery will be performed also affect the prices of Post Bariatric Surgery.
Anyone who has deformity due to weight loss after bariatric surgery, also known as bariatric surgery, is a suitable candidate for Post Bariatric Surgery.
Post Bariatric Surgery is the right surgery for people who have reached the target weight after bariatric surgery and have remained stable at this weight for at least six months. Post bariatric surgery cannot be applied to people with continued weight loss.
It is important that people who are scheduled for Post Bariatric Surgery do not have any health problems that prevent anesthesia. People with diabetes or heart disease are not suitable candidates for Post Bariatric Surgery.
Post Bariatric Surgery includes multiple operations. It is important for the person to be knowledgeable about processes, to be patient and determined.
Post Bariatric Surgery is planned individually. After determining how much intervention is needed in which parts of the person after weight loss, how many sessions will be performed and how many operations will be required in appropriate combinations are determined.
Post Bariatric Surgery operations are performed by Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons under general anesthesia in a hospital environment.

Within the scope of Post Bariatric Surgery, combinations of face lift, breast lifting and lifting, arm lift, tummy tuck, waist and back lift, butt lift and leg lift are determined. Excess skin and fat cells are removed. Body lifting / body lifting is applied. There is a time interval suitable for the healing process of the operation between each session. After some applications, correction surgeries called revision can also be applied.

Procedures and processes performed within the scope of Post Bariatric Surgery;

1- Panniculectomy Surgery:
  • It is the surgery to remove the under-umbilical skin sagging called pannus, especially in the abdominal region, due to intense weight loss after bariatric surgery.
  • Panniculectomy is performed under general anesthesia in a hospital setting.
  • It is applied to people who have completed the weight loss process and whose weight is stabilized.
  • The aim is to eliminate the burden, skin infection and irritation caused by skin sagging, while bringing the person to a flat and flawless abdominal area.
  • Within the scope of Post Bariatric Surgery, it can be planned together with panniculectomy, liposuction, arm stretching and lower body lifting operations.
  • The duration of the surgery differs from person to person according to multiple surgeries planned together. It is completed in an average of 3 to 6 hours.
  • The person can return to his / her daily life after 1 week.

2- Lower Body Lift or Waist Lipectomy Surgery:

  • It is the name given to the surgery to reshape the area covering the waist, hips, thighs, calves and abdomen in the ideal form.
  • It is performed under general anesthesia in a hospital environment.
  • Lower Body Lift or Waist Lipectomy Surgery is applied to people with sagging and deformities in the relevant area.
  • In this surgery, it is aimed to remove excess skin and fat tissue by making an incision surrounding the thigh area behind the hip area.
  • Within the scope of Post Bariatric Surgery, waist and back stretching is performed within the scope of lower body lift or Waist Lipectomy Surgery, butt lifting and forming are completed. It can be planned together with thigh lift surgery.
  • The duration of the surgery differs from person to person according to multiple surgeries planned together. It is completed in an average of 4 to 6 hours.
  • The person can return to his / her daily life after 1 week.

3-Arm Stretching Surgery:

  • After bariatric surgery, as in other parts of the body, the skin in the lower part of the upper arm area may become loose and saggy.
  • With arm lift surgery; It is aimed to give the ideal form to the lower arm area by removing excess skin and fat tissue in the lower arm area.
  • It is performed under general anesthesia in a hospital environment.
  • In the lower arm area, a long incision is made depending on the area where the excess skin to be removed and the excess skin is located, and the fat tissue and excess skin are removed.
  • The incisions are usually hidden on the inside and back of the arm. After the healing is completed, the scar becomes indistinct.
  • Arm stretching surgery can be planned together with breast surgeries within the scope of Post Bariatric Surgery. The duration of the surgery differs from person to person according to multiple surgeries planned together. It is completed in an average of 2 to 6 hours. The person can return to his daily life after 3-5 days.

4- Leg Stretching Surgery:

  • Sagging and excess skin can also be seen in the legs after bariatric surgery. Since this situation, which causes problems in terms of both aesthetics and comfort, will negatively affect the quality of life of the person, thigh lift surgery can be applied at the earliest six months after the cessation of weight loss after bariatric surgery.
  • Thigh lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia in a hospital environment.
  • The duration of the leg lift surgery varies depending on the fat tissue and skin density to be removed from the leg area. In addition, this period is even longer when planning multiple surgery within the scope of Post Bariatric Surgery.
  • Within the scope of Post Bariatric Surgery, thigh lift surgery can be planned together with liposuction and lower body lifting surgery.
  • Leg lift surgery can be performed with inner thigh lift, vertical leg lift and outer thigh lift surgery models.
  • Inner Leg Stretching surgery is applied to people who do not have dense fat tissue and excess skin. Surgery is performed with the incision made from the groin area and the incision scar is hidden in the groin area.
  • Vertical Leg Lift surgery is applied to people with dense fat tissue and excess skin. The surgery is performed with a vertical incision extending from the groin line to the knee level. The incision scar is on the inner leg, in the visible area.
  • Outer Leg Stretching surgery is also applied to people with dense fat tissue and excess skin. The surgery is done with an incision extending from the hip to the groin. The surgery scar is in the concealable area.
After Post Bariatric Surgery, a series of surgeries planned in line with the needs of the person are performed. In these surgeries performed by aesthetic and plastic surgeons, the natural layers of the body are targeted so that the incision marks are in the least visible areas of the body. However, in some cases, incision scars may be in visible areas. In time, the incision scars will fade and take a more natural appearance.
