10 Myths About Aesthetic Treatments
Written by Hulya Alkan.
Especially when 3-4 women come together, aesthetic treatments are a must.
Everyone has an opinion when it comes to aesthetics.
What if not everything you have heard and known about aesthetic treatments is true! Let's rediscover the world of aesthetics;
1- "Botox is snake venom": FALSE
Truth: Botox is a drug obtained from a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum in a laboratory environment. This substance allows the muscles to relax by blocking the transmission of impulses from the nerves to the muscles. We can even call it a blessing, not a poison.
2. "Prominent ear surgery is only applied to adults": FALSE
Truth: Prominent ears have been a childhood nightmare for many. Especially if this one is carried to advanced ages, much bigger social and psychological problems can arise. Prominent ear surgeries can of course be performed from the age of 5-6.
3. "There is a risk of getting sick in fat transfer": FALSE
Truth: How can a person get sick from the transfer of fat, that is, the fat taken from one's own body, is injected into another part of his body? Since each patient is injected with his / her own fat, there is naturally no risk of contracting the disease unless external factors (infection, etc.) cause it.
4. "It is not healthy to lose weight with liposuction": FALSE
Truth: It is possible to get rid of excess fat that accumulates in certain parts of the body due to genetic features and causes deformities by liposuction. Fats sitting on the waist or hips show a person overweight. Although liposuction is not a weight loss method, removing these regional oils will inevitably shape the body and weaken it.
5. "The silicone in breast augmentation operation should change after a while": WRONG
Truth: Very rarely, within the first year, the membrane around the silicone may thicken and form the hard structure we call a capsule. In such a case, the silicone is removed. It can be replaced immediately, or the body can be rested and a new prosthesis can be placed after a while. It would not be right to say this just because there is such a possibility! Prostheses do not need to be changed after a certain time.
6- After Breast Augmentation or Reduction Surgery, women cannot breastfeed ": WRONG
Truth: Silicone does not come into contact with breast tissue. Silicone is placed behind the breast or behind the breast muscle. Thus, patients do not have any problems with breastfeeding. Since the breast tissue remaining after breast reduction is not disconnected from the nipple during surgery, the breast's milk-giving function is not affected.
7. "Since the tampons in nasal surgery are many meters long, they are painful while being removed, creating breathing problems": WRONG
Truth: Usually, airway, leaf-style tampons made of silicone are preferred today. The feature of these tampons is that they are very easy to remove from the nose and the patient does not feel any pain. These tampons also prevent intra-nasal adhesions after surgery.
8. "Eyelid surgeries may cause problems in one's eyesight": FALSE
Truth: While the eyelid may fall due to aging, some people may also have low eyelids inherited. So much so that this situation can sometimes reach a level that can damage the vision of the person. Patients of all age groups are operated with these complaints. Eyelid surgeries are very beneficial in terms of preventing vision difficulties caused by advanced age-related eyelid, as opposed to damage to the eye.
9. "It can be done with abdominal stretching and cesarean delivery": WRONG
Truth: It is not appropriate to do these two operations at the same time. It is necessary to wait for a while for the abdominal area to recover and take its final shape. For this reason, abdominal stretching is never recommended at the same time as cesarean delivery, it is useful to wait at least 6 months.
10. "Nose falls after nose surgery": WRONG
Truth: Another meaning of falling is collapsing on the dorsum of the nose. If the septum carrying the nose (middle) is not removed excessively from the cartilage and if the support structures carrying the nose back are kept in place; There will be no falls even years after nose surgery.
