Hallux valgus, or toe protrusion surgery, can be treated with both surgical and medical methods. It takes 2 hours on average and is performed under local or general anesthesia when necessary. The person is discharged after a one-day hospital stay.

In hallux valgus (bunion) surgeries, the operation process is planned with surgical procedures grouped under the names of tandon and ligament repair, arthrodesis, exostectomy, resection arthroplasty, and osteotomy.

During the recovery period of all hallux valgus surgeries, a resting period in which the pressure on the foot is reduced is required.

With the Botox method, the problems related to foot sweating are at the top of the cases where bunion surgery are required, with the Botox method.

Botox treatment applied every 6 months resolves the problem of foot sweating and foot odor due to this. Hand and foot botox has a pain scale that varies from person to person, but generally the application does not affect the daily life of the person, after the application, the person can return to his normal activities on the same day. The pain can be relieved with painkillers and usually subsides within a few days.

The healing process of bunion surgery surgery develops in direct proportion to which surgery and other applications are performed. Depending on the type of surgery performed after the surgery, your doctor may need to use blood thinners for 1 to 4 weeks.

In bunion surgery surgeries involving hallux valgus surgical applications; Pain can be observed for 1-5 days postoperatively. In this process, it is important to rest in an appropriate resting position to remove the pressure on the foot and the use of painkillers recommended by your doctor.

One night hospitalization is given after the surgery and it is done in the doctor's clinic on the third or fourth day following the first dressing surgery. After the stitches are removed, the wound should remain open, this period is 15-20 days on average. After this period, the person can return to his normal life.

Swelling, edema and bruising can be observed in the first 4 months in hallux valgus operations. Therefore, it is important to use orthopedic shoes recommended by your doctor after surgery. At the end of 4 months, the person becomes able to wear any shoes they wish.
Foot deformities that require bunion surgery are classified under 4 main categories.
  •  Skin disorders: Wrinkles, cracks, spots, calluses, fungus, warts, excessive sweating
  •  Disorders of the bone structure: One of the most common problems is bone protrusion in the big toe area, which is called Hallux Valgus, which causes painful gait disturbance and negatively affects quality of life.
  •  Nail disorders: Ingrown nails, nail and nail bed infection, nail fungus and nail deformities
  •  Congenital anomalies: Operations arranged due to the problem of congenital webbed fingers and fingers having more than five fingers.

People who have one or more of the problems gathered in these 4 categories are the right candidates for bunion surgery. The age of 18 for women and 21 for men is considered the lower limit for bunion surgery. It is important that people who will undergo bunion surgery do not smoke, as smoking prepares the ground for the occurrence of postoperative complaints and complications.
