What is Burn Treatment?

Burn treatment or aesthetic burn scar treatment; It is the name given to the procedures performed by Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons for the solution of both aesthetic and health problems such as scar, tissue loss and similar after treatment and post-treatment processes of burns that occur on the skin surface and subcutaneous layers due to various reasons.
Burns are graded according to the damage they cause in the area where they occur. Burn and burn scar is an important health problem that starts from the skin and extends to the bone, causing serious deformity and tissue loss in the area where the burn develops.

Especially infected severe burns always leave scars after treatment. These scars have different effects depending on the area where the burn occurred, and these effects negatively affect the quality of life of the person.
Since the tissues in the area of burn damage will not tend to grow like healthy tissues, this situation causes the skin to stretch-shrink; If there is a burn in areas such as hands and breasts, limbs stay short; If it occurs in the groin area, the inability to perform the regional functions (such as urinating, sitting on the toilet…) healthily; If it occurs in areas such as the face, neck, eye area, problems such as the inability to close the eyelids completely, the neck movements can not be performed properly over time. In this case, burn scar treatment becomes inevitable in terms of both aesthetics and health.

Everything You Need to Know About Burn Treatment

Burn treatment prices vary according to the treatment model planned according to the type, size and depth of the burn. In addition, the clinic, hospital where the treatment will be performed; doctor following treatment; The location, the anesthesia model chosen and many other factors have a determining effect on the cost of aesthetic burn treatment.

An operation to be performed under local anesthesia, which is planned to remove the burn scar with an average size, is performed in the average price range of 3000 TL to 7000 TL; The price of an operation to be performed under general anesthesia of the same size burn scar: It can be done in the price range of 7,000 TL to 10,000 TL.
Burn treatment, aesthetic burn scar treatments are planned individually for the solution of problems in the burned area 1-2 years after the burn occurs. One or more of the applications for tissue transplantation, laser burn scar treatment and / or tissue expansion are procedures to be performed according to the needs of the burnt area.

Burn scar treatments have different process steps before and after adolescence. It is aimed to eliminate the problem of shrinkage (contracture) occurring in the burn area in burn treatments until adolescence (completion of growth). For example, in the treatment of a burn in the hand or neck area before puberty, surgeries are performed to eliminate problems such as shrinkage in the area that affects the movements of these areas, in other words, the inability to close the hand, inability to hold a pencil, inability to turn the neck, neck inclined to one side. Pre-adolescent surgery is aimed at eliminating functional problems without aesthetic concerns.

After adolescence, functional problems can be eliminated in burn treatments, while at the same time, aesthetic concerns can be relieved. Both healing and aesthetic appearance can be achieved with applications such as removal of the burned area, tissue transplantation to the burned area, laser or fat injection to the burned area.

All surgical procedures, such as general anesthesia, tissue expansion, and laser, are performed under local anesthesia. The application and recovery time of surgical procedures vary according to the size and depth of the area where the procedure is applied and the content of the procedure. Generally, during surgical operations, the person can rest between 2 and 6 weeks. In surgical operations with skin (dreft transplantation), the person is allowed to return to his daily life after 6 weeks. Each surgical operation differs according to the nature of the individual burn area.
In burn cases, the most important problem that negatively affects the healing process of the burn scar is the stretching of the skin in the burn area. Tissue expansion method is preferred in the treatment of burns accompanied by problems such as taut skin and tight stitch line. In this treatment method, a balloon or silicone is placed under the skin of the burned area. At the end of the second week following this operation, serum is injected into the subcutaneous balloon or silicone and the infrastructure is slowly inflated. Tissue expansion continues until a personal level is reached. When the expanded skin reaches the desired size, the silicone or balloon infrastructure is removed and the aesthetic defects of the area are removed.

Laser burn treatment is one of the most preferred aesthetic procedures. The aim of the treatment of burns with laser, which is applied for an average of 4-6 sessions depending on the degree of the burn scar, is to make the burn scar invisible at the optimum level by peeling the burn scar one layer in each session.
Burn is an important health problem involving people of all ages. Burn accidents are common, especially in childhood. If the burn is of a size that will cause a functional problem, after 1-2 years, including the healing process of the burn, everyone is a suitable candidate for burn treatment. Burn treatment within the scope of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery is applied to the following people;
  • People with bad looking scars after burns,

  • People with skin deficiency due to burns,

  • People with hair or lack of hair in the eyebrows, beard, mustache areas due to burns,

  • People with a burnt area on the scalp,

  • People with deformities in the ear, nose and mouth areas due to burns,

  • People with deformities in the finger, back of the hand, inner, hand, and arm areas due to burns,

  • People with chest and / or breast deformity due to burns,

  • People with deformity and / or shrinkage (contracture) in the eye area due to burns,

  • People with deformities in the groin area due to burns,

They are suitable candidates for burn treatment.
Burn treatment, aesthetic burn scar treatment, healing process varies according to the type of treatment and the size and needs of the burned area. In general, the basic processes awaiting the person in all burn treatments proceed as follows;
  • Since the burn treatment is performed under general or local anesthesia, the person does not feel any pain or pain during the operation,

  • Pain, pain or distress may be observed in the first days after the operation or application, your doctor will inform you about pain relief creams and medicines that will help in this process.

  • In the procedures performed under local anesthesia after Burn Treatment, if the person does not have any problems, the same day; After the procedures performed under general anesthesia, the person can return home the earliest one day later.

  • After the burn treatment performed with tissue transplantation, the person can rest for 2 to 6 weeks. In surgical operations with skin (dreft transplantation), the person is allowed to return to his daily life after 6 weeks.

  • After all burn treatment procedures, effects such as crusting and redness are observed in the burn area. These are temporary effects and are part of healing.

  • After the operation, the skin returns to its normal color within 6-12 months.

Burn treatment is a treatment with processes. While a single application is sufficient for some burn scars, multiple applications may need to be planned in large and deep burn scars. The healing process will vary depending on the condition and extent of the burn.
